Phased Rollout Schedule

NADRA is rolling out the new identity card format in planned phases across domestic and international categories:

1. Phase 1 (Started August 14, 2026): Replaces the standard chipless identity cards issued to adult domestic citizens.
2. Phase 2 (January 2027): Expands to National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and Juvenile Cards.
3. Final Phase: Transitions Pakistan Origin Cards (POC) to the unified chipless QR platform.

Important Note on Existing Card Validity

💡 No Mandatory Replacement Required: Citizens do not need to rush to NADRA centers. All previously issued chip-based Smart CNICs and standard identity cards remain 100% valid until their printed expiration dates.
