Marking a major leadership milestone in Pakistan’s aviation sector and the post-privatization turnaround of the national flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially appointed international commercial aviation veteran Adrian Hamilton-Manns as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Hamilton-Manns formally assumed charge of the office, succeeding outgoing CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, who steered the airline through a complex four-and-a-half-year transitional tenure and managed its foundational privatization preparations.
The appointment signals a strategic operational shift following the successful acquisition of a controlling 75% stake in PIA by an Arif Habib-led consortium. With the new private management framework in place, the incoming leadership is tasked with driving aggressive fleet expansion, implementing financial cost controls, and elevating customer service standards to restore the airline’s competitive standing globally.
